
Harrisburg, PA – On February 26, 2025, the International Chinese Arts Society of Americas had the honor of attending the 2025 Lunar New Year celebration hosted by Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. The event, held in the state capital of Harrisburg, featured a unique Chinese calligraphy and painting exhibition highlighting China’s rich cultural heritage by the Society.
Razin M. Karu, Executive Director of the Governor’s Asian Affairs Commission of Pennsylvania, organized the event and served as its master of ceremonies. At his invitation, Sue Cheng, President of the International Chinese Arts Society of Americas, led a delegation of nine talented artist members who reside in Pennsylvania to attend the event. The Society successfully showcased dozens of unique Chinese calligraphy and painting works, which were warmly appreciated by attendees from diverse ethnic backgrounds.
Governor Shapiro addressed the gathering with a heartfelt speech, congratulating the more than 100 Asian Pennsylvanians present for the Lunar New Year celebration. He expressed deep gratitude for their contributions to the state and emphasized the importance of participation from all ethnic communities in shaping Pennsylvania’s future.
As a token of appreciation for the Governor’s support, the Society presented Governor Shapiro with a calligraphy New Year calendar created by Society member Xiao Wen. The gesture symbolized the Society’s gratitude for his leadership in promoting cultural unity.
In addition to the art exhibition, the celebration featured beautiful cultural performances and traditional Chinese cuisine, enriching the festive atmosphere and fostering deeper understanding among all attendees.
